I am very excited to have just received delivery on the final piece of furniture for my studio/office/stitching area.  I had a few pieces of Mission style furniture including a large sofa, and filled out the room with a credenza, writing desk, and armoire.  The armoire was brought today and I am amazed at how much I can organize into it.  I really needed to get on the organization project and get it finished.  (I now have no excuse!!)   My stitching chair in the room is one I have had for a very long time.  I do a lot of stitching upstairs, also, but am probably going to be changing some of those habits now that I love my new additions!

I have been working on getting my virtual booth ready for the online show which begins October 7.  This is a wholesale show but is viewable by everyone so that orders may be placed with participating shops.   Before that ends, I will be leaving with Marilyn from Picture This Plus to help in the real life booth at the Stitching Jubilee in Lancaster, PA.  To clarify, I am not an employee of PTP.  I have known Marilyn and Shari for many years and began designing when they launched their line of fabric for cross stitch.  My first designs were "Small Scapes" which were based on the name of the fabric color used for the design.  They were all sold as kits to begin with, and these can still be purchased as chart only.  When Shari is unable to attend a show with Marilyn, I go along and help her.

Just arrived home from a wonderful vacation in Tahiti with my DH.  It is so beautiful there.  I actually did a little snorkeling this trip.  I purchased a fitted life vest and took it along so that I would feel comfortable getting in the ocean.  The day was gorgeous, the weather perfect, so I waited until everyone else was in and then took my time.  I did not realize the actual FEAR until I got in the water.  My husband looked over and was so excited to see that I was in he motioned me over to show me something.  I told him to wait because my heart was pounding so hard!   I had fun even if one of the first things was a shark beneath me.  I know, they won't even bother with me, but hey!, I'm cautious about these things!!  There is no 100% guarantee!  I also saw humpback whales on a dolphin watching expedition!  Priceless!!!

On the stitching front, after finishing "Mirage", I have decided to stick with a few of the other ideas for this format.  I am working on a piece to be donated to an auction for charity and think the size and layout will work nicely.  I picked up a few more fabric colors to experiment with and am awaiting the arrival of the rest of the Belle Soie crystal threads from Crescent Colours.  I use three of these threads on the latest finish and am very happy with the coverage and look of the stitching.  I want to use silks for the charity piece.  My all time favorite thread is Opal from Caron Waterlilies.  I have to stop myself from using it more often than I do!!  It can not be seen in a photograph, but while stitching, I love the way the subtle colors of the thread show.

NOTE:  Aug 2009 - With the demand for a greater online visibility, blogging is an idea I view with mixed feelings.  I will share as often as I remember to and  keep you informed of "what is happening" with myself and Moonflower Designs.

So, my first blog entry will begin with saying that the past year has been a sad one for my family.  A year ago my step son passed away at the age of 22.  That year began with the passing of my mother-in-law, followed by a dear friend of my husband.  A little over a month ago, my 29 year old nephew was killed in an auto accident.  There have been many sad days and a lot of effort for my husband and I together to deal with the loss.

This week will also be my 50th birthday.  While I really do not get frantic about my age, there is some reflection on life and decisions made.  I have been most fortunate to meet and marry my husband, Michael.  I wish we lived a little closer to my oldest daughter and her children.  I also wish my younger daughter were nearby (although I am NOT suggesting that she should have stayed in KS).  Otherwise, I understand that a person is not able to change anything in the past and believe I am fairly accepting of the events of my life so far.
